Sivananda yoga is a Hatha yoga sequence designed to be a slow and meditative class that helps encourage flexibility, strength and deep relaxation. The class follows a sequence of 12 essential postures that open energy channels of the body, increases flexibility of the spine and stimulates circulation. The order of the asanas allows a systematic movement of every major part of the body, for a balanced practice that is energy restoring. Class begins with deep relaxation and breathing exercises, followed by sun salutations then entering into the 12 postures (with variations for more advanced practitioners) and ending in deep relaxation. This yoga is for all levels.
